Legendary rockers STYX and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts are teaming up for a co-headlining summer U.S. tour–along with Tesla–that kicks off May 30 in Irvine, CA – it lands in Dallas, TX on Sunday, June 10 at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. This might be the classic rock tour of the Summer as all three of these bands can headline any show they want but have chosen to tour together to unite their fan bases for one great night of rock-n-roll.
With Styx’s 16th studio album, The Mission, released just last year, the guys are out on the road bring their loyal fans some new music while continuing to play all of their greatest hits. Styx’s Tommy Shaw added: “We are very excited to announce that STYX will be touring this summer with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Tesla. It’s gonna be one ROCKIN’ night of soul-stirring music we will all be singing long after the night is over! See you there!!!”
Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, with whom she has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she’s had eight Platinum and Gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.” Her independent record label, Blackheart, was founded in 1980 after she was rejected by no less than 23 labels. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts released their latest record, UNVARNISHED, in 2013 and continues to tour obsessively year after year.
Over the course of their thirty-five-year career, the iconic Sacramento melodic hard rock quintet—Frank Hannon (guitar), Brian Wheat (bass), Jeff Keith (lead vocals), Troy Luccketta (drums), and Dave Rude (guitar)—sold more than 25 million albums domestically and played globally to sold-out crowds far and wide. To say TESLA live is absolutely bombastic is an understatement, they are a hard rock band to beat all hard rock bands. TESLA’s ninth full-length album titled SHOCK is due out in the Fall of 2018. The highly anticipated album features Phil Collen of Def Leppard in the producer’s chair and takes a big leap forward as they glance back on their MECHANICAL RESONANCE LIVE! album.
We here at Music Blend Online can’t wait for June 10th to roll around as we have had this concert circled on our calendar for some time. If you are a fan of any (or all) one of these bands – buy your tickets now before they are all gone. STYX’s James “JY” Young said “Joan Jett is the embodiment of reckless abandonment that was part of rock and roll from the beginning. When she is at her best, and I haven’t seen her in anything but, she is able to channel the ‘60s as only Dennis Hopper would. We are so looking forward to sharing the stage with her and The Blackhearts this summer. To be joined once again by our good friends Tesla, with their superlative guitar skills and badass rockin’ attitude will make for a phenomenal opening act.” The DFW area music fans are in for a real treat this Summer and this is one concert no one wants to miss!!!
At each tour stop, Rock to the Rescue—spearheaded by Tommy Shaw’s daughter Hannah and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by the band, whose mission is to build strong, healthy communities through the support of grassroots organizations across the country–researches local nonprofit organizations and picks one to see if they are interested in volunteering to help the band sell $10 tickets for a drawing to win a signed STYX guitar at the shows. They give these organizations a percentage of the sales as their way of supporting their cause and thanking them for supporting the band’s cause.
